The design
At 8 by 10 ft the sampler finally has room to be read properly. The cats are not repeated across the field, they are placed: one dozing in a corner, one chasing a moth near the border, a pair nose to nose in the middle of the blue. The garden frame runs the full perimeter, so the rug has a top and a bottom like a picture and rewards a room where people sit low and look down.
Palette notes
A deep blue field, cream border, and small bursts of rust, gold and pink wherever a creature appears.
Where it lives
A living room where the sofa and both chairs land on the rug, or a primary bedroom with the bed centered and nightstands aboard.
In the wash
Large rugs still fit a household machine at this pile height: wash cold on gentle, skip bleach, and air-dry flat. Rotate it twice a year so wear stays even.
