The design
On the black ground the Garden Bouquet turns from cottage to gallery. At nine by twelve the pale roses and poppies float against near-charcoal like pressed flowers on slate, and the vine border reads as a drawn frame.
Palette notes
The ground is a soft-washed black rather than jet, so it shows less lint and dust than a true black rug. Blooms in ivory, dusty rose and ochre give it warmth; the whole thing deepens a bright room and grounds a pale one.
