The design
This is the traditional carpet pattern worn down to a whisper: medallions, borders and scrollwork all still there, but faded until they read as texture instead of decoration. Grey is what makes it work at this size — an 8 by 10 piece is the largest thing in most rooms, and a loud one takes over. The faux wool face is low and dense, so dining chairs slide and doors clear it.
Palette notes
Soft dove grey over pale stone, with the pattern a half-shade darker throughout.
Where it lives
A living room with all the furniture aboard, or a dining table with every chair on the rug even when pulled out.
In the wash
Machine wash cold on gentle with no bleach, air-dry flat, and vacuum weekly. The TPR rubber backing lies down again without curling corners.
