The design
The traditional medallion suits a circle better than it suits a rectangle: the pattern was always built around a center, and here the rings of scrollwork simply follow the edge. Washed out to grey, it reads as a soft halo on the floor rather than a statement, which is what most of the spots that need a 4 ft round actually want.
Palette notes
Pale grey and stone with the medallion a shade deeper, ringed by a faint border.
Where it lives
Beside a bed, under a vanity stool, in a nursery corner, or centered beneath a small round table.
In the wash
Polyester face over a non-slip rubber bottom: vacuum the dust off, wash cold when needed, and dry it over a rail so the circle keeps its shape.
