The design
The same blue sampler, narrowed to a corridor cut. In a 2 by 6 ft runner the figures line up single file, so walking the length is like turning the pages of one long illustration: a sleeping tabby, a sparrow, a kitten tangled in ribbon. The pile is low enough that a bedroom or bathroom door swings clear over it, which matters more in a runner than anywhere else.
Palette notes
Blue through to midnight in the ground, with the animals picked out in cream, amber and soft rose. Dark enough to forgive a hallway, bright enough to notice.
Where it lives
Bedside along a queen bed, in front of a washer and dryer, or down the strip between a kitchen island and the sink.
In the wash
Vacuum along the length with a handheld or broom, then wash cold on gentle when it needs more. Air-dry flat and the backing grips again the same day.
