The design
This is the only peacock design the line makes. Two birds stand among flowering branches on a deep blue ground, drawn in the same folk hand as the garden runners, with an ivory border and a fine inner frame giving the small rug the proportions of a much larger one. At 2 by 5 ft it is a doorway piece with an unusual amount going on in it.
Palette notes
Navy and midnight blue with ivory, teal, coral and gold in the birds and branches.
Where it lives
Inside a front door, at the foot of a stairway, in a galley kitchen, or in front of a dresser.
In the wash
Vacuum regularly to keep the fine printing crisp, wash cold on gentle with no bleach, and air-dry. The backing grips tile and wood without a pad.
