The design
Eight feet of near-black ground with the full painted bouquet on top: this is the runner we point people to when they say their hallway destroys everything. The dark ground absorbs the daily traffic, the flowers keep it from reading as a plain dark strip, and the wide 2 ft 6 in cut covers more of the walking line than a standard 2 ft runner.
Palette notes
Charcoal black, blooms in red, ochre, blush, and cream. Equally at home with modern black-and-white and with warm traditional rooms.
Where it lives
The busiest corridor you have — front door to kitchen, kitchen to garage. Also handsome along a dark kitchen island.
In the wash
Between washes it needs only a vacuum; in the machine it takes cold gentle cycles without the black going grey. Air-dry, and the backing grips again at once.
