The design
A corridor this long usually gets two mismatched rugs and a trip hazard where they meet. This solves it in one piece: the worn grey pattern runs unbroken for twelve feet, wide enough at 2 ft 7 in that the floor beside it reads as a margin rather than a gap. The surface is buttery soft for a rug that takes this much traffic, and the rubber backing keeps it from creeping toward the stairs.
Palette notes
Washed grey and bone with the traditional pattern faded to a shadow of itself.
Where it lives
A full hallway, a long kitchen, or the run from a front door through to the back of the house.
In the wash
Vacuum daily along the length, spot-clean spills as they happen, and machine wash cold on gentle with no bleach. Air-dry flat so twelve feet come back straight.
